We parked our car about half way up the falls and took the path down to the bottom of the falls and then all the way back up. I still remembered there being lots of squirrels (the fluffy red kind, not the scruffy grey ones that we see in California) every time I've been there before, and we used to feed them peanuts. They would come right up to people and take the peanuts from their hands. I had told the the girls all about that and they were looking forward to feeding the squirrels.
Well....... there were no squirrels yesterday......we did not see a single one. Katharina was not amused at all. She kept trying to lure them out of hiding by tossing peanuts just off the path we were walking on and then waiting if one would show up. But no such luck.

They were probably sleeping somewhere, waiting for summer weather to return.....
Before dinner, we spent a little more time walking around the Kurpark in Bad Dürrheim (where our B&B is). As the girls were playing around with an oversized outdoor chess set, a red squirrel came running across the grass and darted up one of the trees right next to the chess board!!!!
I wasn't fast enough to get a picture of it, but I am glad the girls got to at least see one of those cute little guys today :)
