Alright...
so we have been home for a month already, but we were busy enjoying the rest of summer break. A week from tomorrow, the girls start school again and another summer break comes to an end. I am finally getting around to finishing our vacation blog posts from this year's trip to Germany.
The last post had pictures from our first day with Hartmut, Christian, and Jenny, in Friedrichshafen by Lake Constance. On the second day, we visited the Lake Dwelling Museum and the Affenberg. At the Lake Dwelling Museum we got to see reconstructions of houses at the edge of Lake Constance from the "Stone and Bronze age (4000 to 850 BC)."
The "Affenberg" is just what its name says in German: a hill with monkeys living on it ;)
You can walk right through the area where they live and feed them the popcorn that is provided by the park and specially made for the monkeys. I imagined that the monkeys would be jumping all over us and pulling all kinds of tricks, but it turned out that, at least while we were there, they were all on their best behavior and politely took the popcorn that was offered to them by an open hand.
Our day ended with a visit to a typical "Swabian Dorffest" in a small town close to Friedrichshafen, complete with large "Festzelt" (party tent) and traditional music.
